About While Raising Arrows

Launched in 2018 as a source of education and encouragement for expectant young families, While Raising Arrows is a quickly growing collective of holistic wellness and natural birth stories.

  • Are you an expectant mother wanting to learn more about natural birth?
  • Are you a self-professed “birth junkie” and love reading positive birth stories?
  • Is there a toddler or four clinging to your leg and hollering at the top of their lungs?

Momming is hard from the second we first discover we are pregnant until the day we die. There are so many chapters in this chaotic journey of motherhood, but While Raising Arrows focuses on just those first three chapters: Pregnancy, Birth and Postpartum. If you want to be here, are in the midst of the journey or sigh in memory of those sweet young days, this website is for you. There may be a random allergen-free recipe or a quick “work from home” post here and there in honor of my “day job” with Color Street, an amazing  100% nail polish strip that eliminates dry time. Click here to learn more about Color Street. We will have weekly birth stories from real mothers (submit your own story here), pregnancy facts and research, mom hack and fun crafts and stories from my own experiences as a mother.

This site started as a resource for mothers wanting a fully natural, intervention free birth. It has been a passion of mine since I was a preteen and I have spent my teen years and adulthood researching the subject. I am currently in training to be a birth instructor and teach a 12-week natural childbirth class locally to further serve my community and provide the same course that I took before birthing my own two children at home (read their stories here and here).

Why are we called “While Raising Arrows”? The inspiration comes from Psalms 127:3-5 which reads: “Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.” I fully believe that each and every child is a blessing given by God to be treasured. The bible calls our children our “arrows” and I want this blog to show motherhood through the lenses of raising our little arrows to prepare them for the world.
